| shrouded 2 hp outboard Looking for two things for a square back canoe. For next spring I want to pick up a low price lightweight 2 hp outboard. Then, does a shroud help in shallow rocky water? |

| The honda 2 hp for $875 and 27 lbs has been recommended to me. I figured if any came with a built in shroud I could be more careless. And spend less time hammering out dents in the prop ![]() In shallow sand gravel water the skeg allows the prop to get dinged by small stones when I mess up. And I managed to graze the prop once or twice a year on bigger rocks. OTOH an old 1980 johnson lasted me 30 years with only a can of spray paint and one new prop. |
