Dont really know much about big outboards...but... A Typical problem with big outboards is delivering all that power thru the lower unit and a small propellor.....Anything new in the way the lowed unit handles this ? Another design detail is the motor mountings for such a big beast.... engine shock mount system, not the transom ..anything new ? |

| Opps, one thousand lbs beast !! and my concerns about power output thru the lower unit and powerplant shock mounts are still valid. Do you have anything new to add ? |

| only that i think they have done a great job and i would love to see one. the old johnson 300 2 stroke and the yammy 350 5.3 lt seem to get the power out with no problems. look at some of the achievements with this engine, freshwater cooling on an outboard and twin disc trans with joystick. i think these people have set a new benchmark for marine engines. |

| michael pierzga Please explore the site, follow up on Herring 6 blade wheels and perhaps be a touch less critical, because your posts have a touch of "sour grapes". There is a video that demonstrates the size of the Intrepid boat, which is built to take two Seven Marine 557s rather than triple Yamaha 350s These are very sophisticated units. http://www.seven-marine.com/motors/gallery/

| I like it. The price was rumored to be $69,000. http://www.boatingmag.com/engines/ou...ven-marine-557 Maybe they'll bring it down some with the tough economy ![]() |
