'rude' 9.5 of the 60's, I need a carb part!

I have an Evinrude 9.5. Its an old Rental motor thats been a project for a long time.
They cross threaded the slow speed jet.
Un-real, how the hell did they do that?

So I have replaced the wires, cleaned the Carb, checked the Reeds, and when I got to that Cross threaded Jet, I kinda went into remission and shelved the project.
Now I'd like to get it going again.

I need the top of the carb with the low speed jet that had a Cable going to the front of the engine.

Or....has anybody else had to deal with this kind of abuse?
Did you ream out the threads in the Carb and replace the threads with the Fiber that the Valve can screw into and will hold it in place?
What?

Stripped Jet threads

Depending upon the amount of material there you might be able to install a Heli-Coil thread insert, this would entail drilling it out to a larger size, tapping it for the correct insert and installing it. This would be expensive to buy the necessary dril, tap and installation tool just to do one piece. You might check at some automotive repair shops (especially those that work on aluminum engines) to see if they might have the necessary tools to do it for you.

I think your best bet would be to contact:
Dave Spurgeon

He has a large stock of original and NOS parts for old Evinrude and Johnson outboards. He fixed me up with a tiller handle, lower handle and shift for a 1960 Sportwin 10 HP. He is very knowledeable, pleasant to deal with, and prices his stuff reasonably. You may tell him that John Langevin in Massachusetts referred you to him, good luck.
