| problems with reverse on johnson 89 200 gt Hi, I am new to boating. I just picked up a 1990 19' procraft fish and ski with a johnson 200 gt ob. It has been running fine. I took it to a shop to get it checked on and it had good compression. So I asked him to give it a tune-up. On the last 3 times since I got the boat back from the mechanic when I get in the water and try to go in reverse it shutters like I am hitting something under the water. It is really hard shutters. But if I go into neutral and go into forward it runs fine. Only time I ever use reverse is loading the boat so that is when I notice the problem. I took the boat into the middle of the lake and put her into reverse and it shutters too. Does anybody know what could be going on with the motor. Thanks.. |

| It is either a worn clutch dog or the shifter is not adjusted properly and the reverse doesn't engage fully.
