Problems with Evinrude 150 Motor

Our engine is having a problem. It is hard to start and it coughs and sneezes. Whe we finally get it started it has a rough idle and it usually cuts. If we are able to keep it going then it stalls when we put it in gear. It also isn't peeing. Any ideas?

There are a lot of things that would cause the symptoms you mrntion. You say the water isn't flowing through the engine. I'd advise not running it for more than a few seconds in that case.
Hook a hose up to it, out of water. Then run it. It sounds a lot like the ignition, meaning the points, and the lack of water flow may be due to an old pump impeller that only works when the engine gets some RPM going. Maybe points and pump impeller should both be looked at. Then too, this could be a fuel problem.

Great! Thank you all so much for your help! My husband is going to take a look at it this weekend and hopefully we can get our family back out on the water!

Sounds like your motor needs some TLC. New impellor, new plugs & points, possibly plug wires if they are original. If the motor wasn't run dry before it was put away for the winter then the carb(s) might need a rebuild. Fresh gas also helps.

after replacing the water pump impeller
the next thing i'd do would be: some engine tuner (also know as power tune or combustion chamber cleaner) replace the recirc valves, sync and link the motor by the the book and then if you still have problems clean out the three carbs.
p.s. replace spark plugs after using engine tuner
take your time and good luck

as redtech says and
Assuming the reeds are ok and the float levels are correct check the throttle plates shut correctly and also on an old engine excessive throttle shaft play as in the carb body worn will also cause this
You do sometimes have to re jet the idle.
The sneezing is because one or more cylinders are running lean
( and buy a jet screwdriver dont use a normal straight blade)
Also make sure both cylinder heads are very warm to touch at idle.
The thermostats are 143 F
PS
E150TRLCIA?
