jetting my outboard carbs

I have an 1982 115 hp johnson V4 on a 17 ft javiline bass boat. I am trying to get a few more horses out of it espescally on bottom end. My first aproach is to oversize the jets in the carbs. The problem is that i have tried to bore them out bigger my self but it ran way to rich and my carbs have no needles to adjust it with. Is there some place I can buy over sized jets for this motor? Where? Or what else can I try? Is there any other ways to get more power for little money. What? Thank you ahead

Cody

Power costs money. Larger jets will cost you money in fuel without increasing power. They are setup for the correct air/fuel mixture. More fuel makes you lose power. Increasing the power in the high end is easier. For the low end it will take major modifications.

Youve messed up your motor. You will need new jets (original size). You cant just increase power like that.

The only thing you could do is lighten up the boat and maybe try a new prop.

Make sure your throttles are fully opening.---Thats it!!

i agree with the above
as far as new jets go to your john/rude dealer and order them
he can get the jets in just about every size
horsepower start with porting the cylinders (find an old timer in your neck of the wood that has bass boat experience then pay up and pay close attention this art is fadding away)
