diy outboard from briggs and stratton motor

hi, no1 has replied to my earlier thread regardinbg the size of outboard for my 14ft hydroplane, but what about baking an outboard from a 6hp briggs and stratton horizontla shaft motor with a belt drive from the clutch to the prop. it already has a centrifugal clutch on it, so stasrt it at idl;e, and as i put on throtle it will start to turn. i know it sounds like a crazy plan but i could save alot from a 6hp outboard. i was going to mount it inboard but the keel isnt big enough to house the cutlas bearings.
what do u think and can u give me some suggestions on what i could improve or do different to make it better. thanks
