2011, Yamaha 225 4-stroke, in the water or out for storage between day use?

So, the manual says out in fresh or salt,

but the general concensus seems to be "in".

Any educated comment out there...?

525 pounds that thing weighs!

On a 5000 pound boat!

Lift clear of the water. Less corrosion over time.
