2005 Mercury 115 4-Stroke Cable Harness

My 05 115 Merc 4-Stroke cable harness (where it enters the engine casing) has split and needs to be replaced. My friend has the same engine and the same problem. The dealer has indicated it is not covered by warranty. I am curious how many owners of this engine have the same issue, and how you resolved the problem.

Replacing that would be expensive. To me there is no question, I would split it apart and repair it.

Lots of senders and engine management control on these motors. Hope its not damaged anything.
