exhaust on a jet drive boat

Where can I find a diagram of the inside of an exhaust pipe on a jet boat? Where is the gasket supposed to be located that stops the water from entering the exahust pipes when launching the boat? Are the outside flaps supposed to keep the water out when launching the boat OR is there an internal gasket, AND IF SO, where is it located inside the exhaust pipe? This question pertains to a restored 1971 Sidewinder jet boat.
