| adding keel Hi guys, I have a 16 ft aluminum fishing boat powered by an outboard. The problem I'm having is the boat slides in the water when turning. I troll breaklines and weedlines and such and need it to have better directional control. I would like to add a small keel but don't know the best design. I see ski boats (inboards) have a couple of fins to help them with this same problem. Would one piece 3-4 ft long 2 to 3 inches in height be ok or would it be better to split into two seperate pieces? What about the shape, the leading edge would be sharply tapered, but what about the aft end? Any thoughts on what part of the boat it would be placed, i.e. bow, mid, or stern? I would think mid placement would be best but don't know for sure. Thanks Jeff Wesolowski |

| They make removable fins for surfboards and windsurfers. On of them in the center should work OK. If you prefer a fixed wooden fin, the size you talked about seems fine.
