vintage piece of electronics?

Hi -
I am trying to identify this piece of electronics (or what ever it is!). It's not soft like a button or switch. It wasn't wired to anything when I bought the boat, rather it was dangling around near the cockpit. Does anyone have any ideas on what this is? Thanks very much! jt

A Button to honk the horn?

Thanks Ike, but if it's a button to honk the horn, I'd need a sledge hammer to activate it! Maybe it's gotten brittle over the years...

The horn itself? A buzzer for some old alarm (gas bilge oil temp)? The rusty screw on the back may be for tuning.

That looks like a great way to fasten the leads, Looks alot better than duct tape.

I think its an electric alarm from something. looks like a small horn even has an adjustment on it.

The wire attachment screws are bit big but if you put a feed to them pos and neg it should beep

It's one of those Weapons of Mass Distraction...

As my colleagues suggest - it's what's left of an alarm - the 'front' jpeg shows the 'diaphram'...or 'wobbly bit'. Clean it up and you'll be surprised at the really 'rude' noise it makes.
