Not really but I get dragged into the dingy places by my mates sometimes, it keeps them happy, I'm only a passive schmoker!

Quite right Richard. It is more rule than exception nowadays to drift off topic.
Amazing what static can do to (what started out as) a civilized conversation.

Quite surprising that we NEVER see the proven experts in any sort of fight! Some disagreement from time to time, but that is the salt in the meal.

But every other novice signing up here this year, is much more involved in senseless fighting than in sensible contribution (which rarely could happen anyway).

And always these uneducated, unexperienced pick out one of the experts to fight against their proven knowledge. Never they fight with another ***** similar to their skills.

strange

I have been receiving bits and pieces of these exchanges on my blackberry today but now that I have had a chance to sit down at my computer and read through them all I have had a chuckle and a little red wine out my nose

Most of them, I believe. I haven't heard anything about Norwegian fishermen going extinct....or seen them on any endangered species list.

And another vulture poking his beak in, we'll soon have a complete set! Why do I need to cool off, I'm not making all the fuss? Nice thread until the three of you turned up, none of you have actually contributed anything but abuse! It's not my attitude that's the problem.

That's good, it's probably not true they have this set up then, the standards for fishing boats are pretty high and I should imagine the fishermen are not that daft either.

On this battery box issue, about twelve years ago I had to get a canal license to keep my boat in a marina that was part of the Caledonian Canal. I was going to be working in the area for a couple of years so took my boat with me.

One of the things that the surveyor demanded was that my battery boxes were covered, not because of gas but in case I shorted the terminals accidentally. The tops of the batteries were already a few inches above the box. I asked him if he would accept a rubber car mat laid on top and held in place by the retaining straps and he was quite happy with that arrangement.

My canal license has long since expired but I still have the car mat covering the batteries (not the same ones obviously ).
