Solar Interference to GPS

Hello All,

I read in this morning's paper that a solar eruption in December caused considerable interference to GPS.

Having not been using GPS at the time, I have no firsthand knowledge of what this "interference" entailed.

My questions are for those who actually encountered problems at this time.

1. Did individual GPS units totally blank out, or did they continue to provide lat/lon data, but of an incorrect nature?

2. Was there a "Notice to Mariners" issued to warn of the above problems with the system?

Thanks. Take care.
