| NEED WIRING SCEMATICS for 76 IMP shifter A friend of a friend has asked me to get his 76 IMP AZTEC together and running for the summer. Has not been used for some years. Someone took it to a "less than reputable" marine mechanic only to get the boat back with same problems (electrical) and the shifter completely disassembled and scattered about the boat. Everything else about the craft and it's engine seems to be in good working order. I've got the majority of the electrical issues taken care of but, now I have to reassemble the shifter and it's wiring. This boat has a 235 omc. There are 5 or 6 wires leading to the shifter of which one is a power lead from the ignition (as far as I've been able to determine). Can any one tell me how to correctly hook these up. Thanks in advance for all comments. VKRUE |

| Color Coded Wires ? Thanks again Gonzo, but my wires are colored as follows one red wire = power / which splits off as a jumper for a second terminal two white wires one green and one blue The terminals in the shifter appear to be actual switches. Was talking to a guy at work today who suggested that the blue & green wires each lead to separate solinoids (one for forward, the other for reverse) in the out drive. The red wire with the jumper powers each solinoid and the two white wires possibly for a neutral switch or sensor. Wish I had an actual picture of the terminals / switchs at the shifter but have included a rough scetch ( am a poor artist). Could the forward switch be the "REVERSE" and the aft switch be the "forward" leaving the center switch to be the neutral sensor ? VKRUE |

| Can you describe the setup in more detail? Is the ignition switch on the shifter? The green wire is the trim down , the blue wire is the trim up.

| Trim Switch Once again, no. The trim & lift are located on the dash and both work fine. The shifter appears to only control the forward & reverse as well as the throttle. Understand that your trying VKRUE |

| The only thing you really need in the shifter is the neutral safety switch. It interrupts the circuit in the yellow/red tracer wire so it won't start unless the shifter is in neutral. I don't know what the other are for.

| Many Thanks Thanks Gonzo, I've got the thing running using the layout as discribed in my not so artsy scetch. Don't claim to be a mechanic, so I don't have as much knowledge about how these things work as others... No scematics need now. Thanks again anyway... VKRUE |
