or

now you know why ARPA data doesnt get sent anywhere as its the only tool to use for collision avoidance.

Getting back to Radars, one technology that I wish they would adopt from the military is frequency agility. The modern military radars can detect interference (jamming) and automatically switch frequencies to a clear channel.

Another thing I would like to see is ARPA data integrated into the AIS and chartplotter information. That way you could see on one display all the targets, whether AIS equipped or not instead of seeing the AIS ones on one screen and trying to figure out where the ones from the radar are in relation.

Are you still using steam operated electronics?

AIS info is integrated even in the 2000$ mouse cinema radars. (if you have a receiver)

So you have ARPA and AIS info on one screen and at the same position when the target is the same.

To your sidescan sounder. (these are no sonar units)
You can easily buy a FURUNO sidescan sounder as a stand alone unit. (better quality than Humminbird)
But the additional GPS does not make any difference. How much more is the satellite unit inside? 35$ ???
