Yvan has posted up a video of the arrival in Bali and preparation to get the boat ready for the next leg of the journey:

Man, he's stil going, and sems to be going well.

Be interesting to see what happens in the Gulf as he approaches the Red Sea. Reckon the pirates would let him go as he's obviously mad, and hence a djinn, or evil spirit..... lol

He seems to be doing this trip with little or no fanfare, and good luck to him.

    Very inspiring.

Makes me think my plans for a circumnavigation in a 24ft trimaran are, well, luxurious, by comparison.

"Lookshery! But you tell the yoong people abart it, and they won't believe ya, no they won't!"

Next challenge will be the guy who does the whole circ. on a waveski, or a windsurfer. Then they'll be fighting over whose is the biggest wind-powered toothpick.....

According to the wind model on his tracker, he's in a serious hole for the next day or two, easily. I hope he has a fishing pole.

What a shame! Maybe he can get the boat back together?

From what Yvan has said the intention is to get a new sport catamaran to complete the course rather than repair his wrecked boat.

There's yet another reason to not sail solo.....

    Poor Yvan. Such a disappointment.

He needs to do some crowd sourcing to repair the old boat. In SL it would be cheaper to do that than to buy a new boat in France and ship it there. All he would need to ship would be a new mast and beams, and they could probably come form Singapore a lot cheaper.

    Boat repair

Yes, I agree. I also think it would be more satisfying to finish the adventure in the same basic boat.
My immediate thought is, that I wish someone would organize a fund raiser for this enterprising fellow .. there must be at least 3000 of us sailors who have been watching this amazing story unfold ... and if we each gave $10, he'd not only have the funds to get this boat repaired but he'd also then realize that, overall, the sailing world is behind him and this would be added encouragement to finish what he started. Somehow, it's become important to many of us, that he finishes this now.
After all, he must be nearly 3/4 of the way now.
    Anyone with any suggestions ?

Mike I agree and I would certainly offer at least $10.

Perhaps one of our French speakers could get onto Voiles et Voileurs or one of the other French mags, or even to Yvans support site in the first instance.

Ma francais is way plus mal...!!!
