    Strike 18 for EC

It`s interesting for me to read that you will take a STRIKE 18 to the 2015 EC. Richards small Tri seems to offer a lot of speed and some shelter in harsh weather. http://www.google.de/imgres?imgurl=...HfUoKTCMretAad0oGYBQ&ved=0CF0Q9QEwBg&dur=1541

Do you plan to build it with a cabin (built in or removeable) or with a tent or do you want it as fast as possible without any shelter to save weight as much as possible ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4iFXdFuihw#t=31 and http://www.sailingcatamarans.com/Strike 18.htm and http://www.freeforum101.com/woodsde...bf5ae382ee33cd6c5aec660b8&mforum=woodsdesigns

Im slightly interested in the cabin but it doesnt make it a total shelter due to its length. I like the tent design from Richard better. As of right now, my rough plan is to full speed and pack light. But the trade off is the decision to carry another crew member and his weight/gear or not. I can sail nonstop with crew, or sail in a delerious state solo.

The only modification that the boat needs are self bailers but I will have over a year of practice to see just how wet the cockpit can get. The Texas200 this June will be a great shakedown.

I am almost done with the boat, perhaps another 2 or 3 months... hopefully less.

And in the previous posts, I was only trying to establish my credentials, not brag. I for one am very suspicious of internet forum debate. too many armchair sailors out there for me.

    Check out the boat!

Thank you 2far for your kind reply and the very interesting pictures of the boat. I think it is a good idea to keep the trimaran as light as possible and to reduce windage. On some videos of the last EC it could be seen how difficult it was to get the heavier boats from the beach into the water --- for the start.

On the other hand a small sheltered place might be useful under bad conditions to avoid sitting in front of a fire hose under certain circumstances.
I am very interested to read more about your experience with your new tri when it is ready. Thank you for the photos.

Do you know what occasionally crosses my mind, Upchurchmr?

That is that there are (very infrequent) occasions when you seem... not unlike the death of the party.

... But please excuse me, I mainly wanted to bump this thread now, because someone has started a new one, and 2far2Drive and I have some serious business to conclude.

    :)

    Blackburn,

I'll think about that seriously. I acknowledge having more than one fault.

What I would like are some factual discussions, there is a wealth of information, sometimes it takes a little digging and attitude adjustment.

    Okiedoke.

But be warned that I may occasionally embroider a little on all that deadly boring factual stuff...

    ;)

Hopefully I will have enough of a sense of humor to catch it.
