Team Vodafone to contest Auckland to Noumea race

    Team Vodafone ORMA60 is set to contest the Auckland to Noumea Race a new race record given the right conditions is on the cards. The New Zealand leg starts at 2pm on Saturday 2 June, from the Waitemata Harbour, and finishes inside the reef off Cercle Nautique Caledonien in Noumea. Spectators in Auckland will be able to view the start from North Head. Yellowbrick race tracking will be available from the Sail Noumea website.

    The NZ race has started and the tracker is now active on the Sail Noumea website. Team Voda is in the lead but conditions so far are not looking favourable for a new record.

    My apologies it looks like my previous post was in error Team Vodafone has set a new record time for the Auckland-Noumea race.

    The Orma 60 trimaran took line honours in the Evolution Sails Sail Noumea race, arriving at 9pm (NZ time) to claim the multihull race record in 3 days, 6 hours, 59 minutes and 50 seconds. The former record of 4 days, 3 hours, 33 minutes and 22 seconds was set by Rogntudjuu in 2002.
