Is that really the basis for your concern, "Matt"?

I'm not the one who is posturing a years old and well circulated clip as having relevance.The clip as linked is 3 years old. Not only has it been shown here several times since first shot and edited, but it's also been featured at Sailing Anarchy a bunch, Sailing Scuttlebutt, BYM sailing and with a little digging on anybody's part, probably a dozen other locations in the interim.

A really simple search on Youtube will lead you to, literally, dozens of other foiling and non-foiling multihulls and otherwise, should you take the time. Many of them a whole lot newer than this one and terrifically more poignant, as a result.

That is... unless you think that a hugely circulated, three year old clip showing boats from a non-existent class have time senstitive relevance? Is that your position.... that it's relevant?

My point, specifically, 3 foils, is that the pimping service by Doug is entirely weak in the knees. Maybe you enjoy old and totally recycled material for purely indulgent reasons?

I am fully aware of the content (of vids) availabbl on the net,but, thought just for a minute that you,being (allegedly)well connected,might just have a treat or two up your sleeve.......
I dont mind the older stuff, i have a trifoiler and an '81 z1300 for entertainment!

Redrueben - that vid is very instructive (I don't give the tail end of a blue-arsed fly how old it is) - right at 3.42 you can see the foil under the leeward hull, and the lift angle is patently clear.

My stuff is all over the place. Easy enough to find if that's your real motivation.

So, now that the complaint has been addressed.... what have you to say for yourself. You know, stuff that you've created, built and proved on the water? I would like to see it and we can all kick it around for all the right reasons.

That is a sincere request... you know, so that we can all make our own impressions of the substance you wish to use to call out others.

We can wait... take your time. But, please keep the critiques to a very low dose until you do, will you please?

So, with all the eh's in that post, I guess we're to assume that you're really from Canada, and not a Kiwi at all, eh? ;-)

If you wanted to have a look at a clip that has not been floating around for years in the public domain, why not straight-up ask that question, or take the time to write me personally? I do have a collection of videos that were shot when I sailed on Sodeb'O last September and do not post them on Youtube. The same is true for some of my sailing companions on that day at sea. They have shared them only with each other and their close friends.

Not everything a person owns should be blasted across the public domain landscape. I'm sure you understand that point. Maybe you have some personally acquired clips that you keep off Youtube? Perhaps a glimmer of a truly creative idea has been making itself known to you in your thoughts? Rather than toss it out there before its time, you distill it, fiddle with it in the shop and then ask some close friends, who are also enthusiasts, to offer their opinions before you splash it about in public... where it should be no surprise that some will take potshots when they see a poorly thought-through presentation.

None of that reality, however, removes the counter to Doug's foamy desire to forever put-up recycled material for who knows what messed-up reasons. For a guy who has self-elevated his Web presence as some sort of cutting edge guru for all things foily, one has to wonder if the magical well has run dry for Doug when he has to post very old-school clips in order to maintain a front.

If it's ama mounted foil assist that is the point of all this, then why not some very timely and craftily shot video of Groupama3, Banque Populaire, Alinghi, BMWO, etc., seeing as how the ORMA tris have now been parked for some time and not likely to see a race, or demo circuit again? God knows that with the budgets these operations run, that there's simply thousands of minutes of video out there floating about. Some of it can be had for just asking, should one be so motivated.

Of the two groups of foil assisters... (The old school ORMAS, or the much fresher, state of the art boats mentioned above) from which one will the lessons be most poignant?
