The RdR morning report for the last boat on the water. Gilbert Chollet skippering CHIMIREC - EVTV, is now less than 137 miles to his goal of finishig the 2010 Route du Rhum solo sailing race. He is making 5.6 knots, at present and is in good wind for his run to the island of Guadeloupe.

Here comes Gilbert Chollet slicing his way into Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe at 8.5 knots and just under 60 miles to go. Depending on wind as he rounds the southwest corner of Guadeloupe, he will probably roll into the finish line sometime just after sunrise tomorrow morning.

What a pleasant conclusion to the racing for this version of the RdR.

Just fourteen miles left for Gilbert Chollet with his boat now sitting on the lay line for the short shot into Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe.

Gilbert Chollet, the very last Class 40 skipper and the very last boat to arrive at the finish of the 2010 Route du Rhum, has pulled into port safely, concluding the racing component of the RdR for this year.

This post was made at Gilbert's website on his arrival...

    Arrival

It is Gilbert arrived at 5:28 p.m. (Paris time)!

I got the phone briefly, he is very happy to have arrived, absolutely not tired and he has only one desire: Leave the boat and go have a drink!

He had a great welcoming committee, many of the world for the last several skippers who apparently went to look for: Wiily Bissainte (which even brought the ship to port), and François Julien Angoulvant Mabit I think. Sorry if I forgot others but we did not talk very long!

Gilbert said he would try to leave a message on the blog later in the day.
