powersail planning trimaran

Has anyone ever thought of building a powersail planning trimaran?

I had this strange idea seeing the MacGregor 26M has good performance by motor but poor sailing qualities.

Surely the adoption of the side hulls would allow greater sailing performance.

It could be a good compromise.

What do you think ?

There are examples of planning trimaran Hull

- MAGNUM 21 has a planning hull,

- trimax 1080 has a semiplanning hull
http://www.primoportale.com/BARCHE/T...hull-model.jpg

what happens if I build a trimaran of 10 mt (like trimax 1080), but with

- more planning area (BWL 2.45 mt)
- lifting foils (like F32X)
- 60 Hp power

Surely it plans under motor, but sailing performance could be good ???

What do you think about this design of Chris Ostlind ? BTW we have had here long and interesting diskussions about planing multihulls.

???
No, only theoretical.
Ě`ve sailed with my 35 footer "against" Trimax.
I never saw this boat in a mode like that on the pic.
Only in humpspeed i saw a bow -up attitude.
After leaving humpspeed the boat was in fast deplacement mode.

She`s a very attractive boat (bad HP) !
