I also had a difficlut time contacting them. There are no pictures of any craft other than cartoons, so I'm thinking you may want to check out another designer--why not Gary Dierking? Dan JUST found this: Coast Guard rescues man lost at sea for 5 days Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale, Fla., rescued a 63-year-old man after he was located adrift on the sea for five days. The crew of a Drug Enforcement Administration helicopter spotted the 23-foot sailboat this morning 16 miles east of Hollywood Beach, Fla., and notified the Coast Guard. Two rescue boats from Station Fort Lauderdale were dispatched to the scene, and found the sailboat floating with no mast. The man, a Key West, Fla., resident, reported that he left Key West on the Konktiki en route Miami and lost engine power five days ago. He said he hadn't had food or water in five days, and there was no emergency equipment on board the vessel. He also reported suffering a minor heart attack. The man was transferred to Fort Lauderdale EMS for treatment. -uscg- That would be an excellent reason not to return an email. Dan Last edited by dstgean : 03-11-2010 at 04:36 PM. Reason: Update

Dan Thanks for the reply- am currently awaiting delivery of Gary's book Konktiki enquiry related to a previous comment by yourself regarding its heavier displacement as a camper cat design that is load carrying capacity. High energy coasts here often restrict beach overnighting thus requiring more supply independence through on-board storage, sometimes limited in canoe-hull cat designs. Neville

Two of Gary's designs do have good load carrying capacity. His Tamanu and His longer 24' Wa'apa are good carryers for camp cruising provisions. For cruising, I like the stable platform of the cat. I like the cartoon of the Konktiki, but without a sistership or real construction drawings I'm going with a known design. Richard Woods has a nice dory shaped cat for camp cruising as well in the janus. Other design ideas? Dan

Good point. Way back, I did get an email from the designer--but no pics of the boat. I recall he used 2x6material for the bottoms and ply for the sides with box beams connecting the structure. I like the look of the lug rig, but wonder how efficient it would be for a multihull. Slidercat has had good luck with his sprit rig, so perhaps it would work on what looks to be a slower camp cruiser. One rudder one one hull and one outboard on the other is kinda interesting. I do like the huge platform for camping. I'll be doing that with my double Tamanu--but at first with a trailerable beam at first and maybe less rig than the H18 I used in the Texas 200 when the beam was 9'+. Dan
