| Yes , the Nielsen 35 has a lot of similarities with the Pinta. The Pinta has been the world`s first GRP production trimaran. Nielsen designed her in 1968, until 1976 23 units have been built. Another successful Nielsen design is the 30`Fleuret, from 1972. Poul Elvstroem sailed 1976 one in the Round Sealand Race in Danmark, came in 6 hours ahead of the next competitor and claimed a peak of 29kn. But sadly, in those days there have been no market for such a boat. Few years later Quorning copied a lot from the Fleuret for his fixed DF25/DF800. http://www.alvilda.de/ http://www.pohjantahtisailing.com/GalleriaUUDE.html pogo |

Planing area begins were u find today those bananafoils on ORMA , or Dogzilla. Behind the deepest point, the rocker is more than less "thrown" into the wave of the forward planing area for a designed speed of plus 25kn. She has a wide rectangular transom, which prevents hobbyhorsing very effetive. pogo |
