I don't know. Prior to 2000, when my dad bought it, and since then he's added minikeels -- why it was on the hard in Mackay. All of the reinforcement to make it into a cruiser made it sit too low in the water, and so it needed more buoyancy. The hulls were only 6mm thick! Whomever thought it would be a good idea to make such a lightly built boat into a cruiser was mad.

It's now this weird melange of underbuilt (like the hulls, and the pencil-thin stick) and overbuilt where all this stuff has been done to it to keep it from breaking, around all the stress points and on the keels. Now, Dad knew nothing of this when he bought the catamaran, but he's found it all out in an unfortunate way!

Is there some way of digitising video without it costing an arm and leg? I might see if I can convince him to do it if it's not too dear.

planing cat since Parliers boat(s) that I've seen. In previous renderings of this same boat it was shown with stepped planing hulls...

It looks like the rudder both kicks up AND retracts. Seems sort of redundant.

Maybe the idea to be able to only use as much rudder as you need at the moment, while always having the option of lots of rudder?

That`s correct.
Another feature is that one can adjust the balance, which sometimes is useful for tiller-pilots, or giving a negative angle for avoiding ventilation.
It took me three rudders to find the final solution that needs no downhaul.
The rudder weights , incl. blade, 29kg ( i think the latest Farrier rudder of this size in carbon comes in with 25kg).
It`s bulletproof, we often grounded it while sailing up to 20Kn.
I called it MARS--Multi Adjustable Rudder System
