sillyest thing I have seen in a long time. It would make neither a good aircraft nor a good sail boat. The amount of critical systems needed to make that viable would be incredibly costly (more than aircraft carrier based military aircraft), and any one of the systems failure would kill the occupants. It is doubtful it is even viable as an aircraft with such lightweight wings.

So the idea the owner flys to the Bahamas from say Miami, lands on the water, change to sailboat mode and sail around the islands? It would be far less costly, faster and safer to have a yacht already in port, and fly your private jet in and have a taxi take you to your yacht. I doubt there would be much of a market for such a craft even if it was viable.

The designer seems to forget that all of the first really large aircraft built in the 20's and 30's were all flying boats (there were not many large airports around so they took off and landed on water). If the idea did not become popular than it certainly will not now.

A Grumman Goose or Mallard or even better a PBY and fitted it out like an RV would be a better plane, boat or RV. It's been done and it is a very versatile vehicle. A plane that can land on water or land. The PBY version has way cool skylights.
