new F22 mast

I just saw a very interesting mast on the F22 website. It is a series of tubes in a beam configuration. It is supposed to be very cheap to build, any ideas on how to perform scantlings on such a design?

I've seen the occasional boat with a lattice mast - never a multi though. I think the main issues would be weight and windage (and possibly all those welds). By way of comparison $800.00 - I assume US - is roughly half what a suitable bare extrusion would cost here new.

It may be cheap and suitable for an inland lake cruiser, but for any type of performance multi is is two draggy, especially up the top. Also mega airflow disturbance around the luff of the sail on reaching courses. This idea was tried in the 1960s and found wanting.

A cheaper and more effective utility mast can be made out of standard 6061T6 alloy round tubing, as in Lock Crowthers "Buccaneer" designs.
