An article from Scanvoile goes into a little more detail:

http://www.scanvoile.com/2016/12/mul...-ajout-de.html

Here is the rough google translate:

The foils arrive
2016 was a transition year. On the one hand, it was necessary to find more homogeneity between the boats: the older ones can no longer today share the ranking of the Multi50 performers. On the other hand, the Multi50 class was also to take part in the foils adventure.

Erwan Le Roux, President of the Multi50 class: "We have started a change and obviously it works because new skippers and partners join us in 2017 and several new boat projects are underway. The Multi50 class will be much more attractive in 2017. Boats are performing well, with foils, and budgets remain very affordable for SMEs. "

Armel Tripon buys Ex-Actual
Armel Tripon is one of those who join the class in 2017. He has just acquired Yves Le Blévec's Ex-Actual and will install foils there. He is currently putting it in the colors of a partner he will announce at the end of the winter: "I wanted to go multihull for several years. With my partner we exchanged a lot about programs, budgets, visibility. We agreed on the Multi50 which met our expectations. It was the class that offered the best relationship between the budget and the positive spin-offs in internal and external communication. "

Construction of a new Multi50
Two-thirds of the Multi50 fleet is expected to be equipped with monotype foils by 2017, the others will follow in 2018. Thierry Bouchard is already launching the construction of a new boat on VPLP plans, the first multi50 Foil.

It moves in Multi50!
The sale of the former Ciela Village is expected to materialize later this month with a skipper from the Class40.

Arkema (Lalou Roucayrol) will be equipped with foils after his very nice season 2016. The French Tech Rennes Saint-Malo (Gilles Lamiré) will be on the Transat Jacques Vabre (without foils). Gilles Lamiré is currently studying with his partners the opportunity to build a new boat.

As for Erwan Le Roux, he will announce his intentions in the coming weeks. Six powerful Multi50s could be from the Transat Jacques Vabre, including four with foils.

Another article on Scanvoile gives a little more detail. It sounds like it will be like a conventional foil assist setup as fitted to the initial one design MOD70 trimarans a float mounted C foil and no T foil rudders.

Even with just "C" foils, rudder t-foils would help but I guess the cost is too great. Thanks for the info.

Another press release this time on a new entry into the Multi50 from the Class 40 field Thibaut Vauchel-Camus. A new boat is being constructed with details in the article. It fully exploits the box rule in length and beam and maximum air draft.

"And the racks on the rudders are forbidden." I wonder if he's referring to rudder T-foils being forbidden?

I believe so, it's a basic C foil package without rudder foils much like the first ORMA 60's to use curved float foils.

Team Lalou have uploaded a video to Facebook showing their upgrade work on their Multi50 trimaran "Arkema". They have addressed the structure of the boat as a whole in retrofitting the foil casings which has proved to be a pretty major job with a substantial amount of extra reinforcement needed inside the float and on the front beam.

Team Reaute Chocolat have uploaded some pictures of their new foils being fitted to their Multi50, conventional type C foils, I'm guessing all the boats are going to use the same foils probably a group buy to help keep tooling and manufacturing costs down.
