The MOD70 team Oman Sail are attempting to break the Round Ireland record there was not much prelude to this attempt as the weather window appeared at short notice. In 19 hours they have completed about half the distance and conditions are favourable to easily improve the 44 hour record set by Steve Fossett on the trimaran Lakota.

    Done:
"The 70–foot Multihull screamed past the Muglins Rocks on the outskirts of Dublin bay at over 30–knots to claim the record in a time of 40 hours, 51 minutes and 57 seconds."

Nice to see those MOD70 being used.

We get so focused on the boats, but imagine the kind of athletes these guys are to keep that up!
