| Mastmate? Very interesting thread - under serious consideration for my 6.2m tri (about halfway constructed now). The use of the boom as a ginpole appeals and supplementary lines may be better than my original idea of fabricating a pair of removeable lock plates to prevent it swinging. Have you guys seen the Mastmate commercial solution? I figure it would be fairly easy to fabricate something like this but for under $200 why bother? The long strut seems to be pivoted at the base of the mast and the other one probably slides horizontally in a channel and may even be telescopic - though the details on the website are a bit vague - I'll check it out with the supplier. Cheers Alan |
