Lock Crowther Kraken 25 Trimaran. The possibility exists of making plans for the Kraken 25 available again. This is not a cruising Trimaran with accomodations--but a fast day sailing boat which falls into the same class as "C class" catamarans. Restoring and re-printing the plans is a time and effort consuming business which is only worth it if there is a demand for it. Would any of you who are interested please PM me stating your intentions, providing we can keep the cost to a reasonable level. ![]() OS7.

Kraken 25 plans still exist somewhere?

Yes I have access to them, but need some solid orders to reprint them. At the moment I only need an idea of the possible demand in order to make the procurement financially viable. In other words prospective builder/sailors, let me know if you are really interested, not just "Tire Kicking". ![]()

Thanks Kaamaman. That threequarter pic and side view dwg is very informative. Perhaps it will encourage some interest so that I can determine if it is feasable to produce the seven sheets of plans plus the building instructions and materials list for it. ![]() OS7.

The response has been deafeningly quiet. I am not going to proceed with the work of restoring the plans of the Kraken 25 unless there is at least some interest. Please speak up if you have any interest. I know at least three sailors who have built their Buccaneer 24s as day sailors so there must be some interest out there. Lets hear for it. ![]()

I now have the 7 sheets of plans available. There are no separate building instructions or materials list as all the information is in the plans. The sheets are quite small, but do include full size patterns for the frame formers on which you build the double diagonal skinned hulls which are very light and strong. Wide wooden box type crossbeams are simple and stiff. If you are not into racing, the mast can be shortened by 6' to enable a smaller fathead mainsail without affecting the rigging or foresails. this gives a pleasant fast and less expensive day sailer. All this also keeps the price of the plans down, and so I can supply them for US$50.00 postpaid. Pay by PayPal or by direct debit in Australia. PM me if interested.

I have just completed the master sheets for the K-25 and have printed off three sets of plans. Two are already spoken for --so I have one left for the moment. I can print more, but not till next week. OS7.

Well, I've shipped three sets of K25 plans---but that seems to be about it. There does'nt seem to be much demand for day sailing trimarans in that size. 17-20 ft seems to be the most popular. Shame I can't source the Buyip 20 plans. ![]() The Piver Frolic 16ft seems to be still available. I built one for my teen Son in the middle 1960's. It was a fun boat. ![]() I did away with the daggerboard and put fixed fins on the outriggers. That enabled the main hull to be a single berth under a boom tent, and for it to sit "square" on the beach. It had a self tacking jib which made it a breeze to single hand. The floats had flat bottoms with no rocker, like a pair of water ski's and as a result they definitely planned in flat water at speed. I'ts no wonder Jim Brown liked it so much.
