Team Invictus' C Class cat has a 40 foot wing sitting on top of a 180kg boat! It was much admired at the RYA Volvo Dinghy Show earlier this month.
A special visitor was Alain Thebault, from the Hydroptere project. He is joining Jérémie Lagarrigue, who sailed Patient Lady 6 at the 2010 Little America's Cup, in Newport, RI. They have stated their intention to bring a new boat to the next championships here in the UK which would be great for the event; Alain was very much drawn to the Corinthian spirit of the event which we wholly support.

LITTLE AMERICA’S CUP, CHALLENGE ITALIA CONFIRMS ITS PARTICIPATION

Palermo- After 31 years an Italian challenge for the Little America’s Cup is filed. In 2013 Challenge Italia, an Italian team based in Palermo, will compete in this prestigious competition with a crew composed by Francesco Bruni and Pierluigi De Felice.

Challenge Italia confirms its participation in the World C Class Championship, also known as the Little America’s Cup, to be held in 2013 in Falmouth, Cornwall. Challenge Italia will compete under the flag of Club Canottieri Roggero di Lauria, the prestigious club based in Palermo that is also involved in the America’s Cup with Venezia Challenge.

Roberto Grippi, Team Manager of Challenge Italia, expressed his enthusiasm on behalf of the whole team for the progress made since the project began in October 2010.

Benedetto Inzerillo and Attilio Albeggiani will lead for the design and construction team. Yacht designers for over 15 years, they have won many championships and Italian national races with their designs. Francesco Belvisi, Luca Caruso and Giuseppe Musca, talented young yacht designers, complete the design team.

New challenge (I think) from a high power Team "Hydros"(Thierry Lombard) with two new designs in conjunction with VPLP. From the "Foilers" site.( http://foils.wordpress.com/ )
Article was hard to decipher giving the initial impression that the project was part of Team Hydroptere. I'm not clear on the whole story at all.....

Gooday Doug & others. That's a nice 'wing-sail' combination they've got there. Sure be interesting to see how it goes campared to a full solid-wing form. I would suspect - it might go far better than some might think. I'd sure have one of them to go - play with. It's nice. IMHO Ciao, james
