"Bieker and Brown are together redesigning the ama and adding foils to Jzerro in order to make this boat fly for Finn’s record setting attempt in the winter of 2016."

Can you tell us about the stability and control aspects of making a proa fly? I imagine the ama daggerboard will be providing the side force and a downward vertical force to oppose the rig, and the foils on the vaka will be providing vertical lift and steering the boat. How does it achieve pitch and heave stability when flying?

So this is your original Jzerro with updated ama and foils?

I cannot. That was a journalist's use of "fly" as in "haul butt". I didn't write it or publish it, but will have it corrected so nobody thinks we are trying to make Jzerro foil. Sorry for the confusion. I'll forward this to him.

That is the goal, yes. First thing in order however is a new, slightly taller, mast and new sail plan.

I was wondering about that. It would be cool to see Jzerro foiling, though!

Ryan, when do you plan to leave NOLA; and when will you be in NY? I'm on Long Island and would love to see Jzerro up close.

Tom.151 Best boat so far? Crowther Twiggy (32')

    I second that.

Sorry for the late reply. The plan is to be in NYC late Fall of this year.
