| How do we know that the images represent a modified G32? I'm a property rights person and the minute this guy paid for the boat, he gets to do with it as he pleases as long as he does not endanger anyone who is asked aboard. If we get all bothered by this boat, then what happens to us when we see a highly modified hotrod that came out of a '32 Ford coupe? |

| Hussong. Form follows function. That's why modern aircraft look so good. That thing is just plain Fugley and just reveals the owners bad taste IMHO. The same with "Highly Modified Hotrods". Ugh!!! |

| Sadly some owners feel the need to stack extra accomodation on and thats why we end up with boats like this which are beaten to death with an ugly stick. The problem is that the boats no longer perform their intended function properly due to poorly thought out modifications which drastically alter the boats sailing dynamics and safety. To perform as they should multihulls have to fit into a fairly tight range of criteria of windage, weight and weight distribution It seems to be a malaise that effects multihulls more than any other boat probably because they have more deck space in which to add on unnecessary crap. It seems that a lot of old piver trimarans suffer this fate too with ridiculous looking slab sided coachroofs being fitted that create dreadful windage and would make the boat sail like a dog it's no wonder the old myth of multihulls not being able to go to windward still hangs around. |

| After the Andrews 28 was introduced I thought about putting a lifting keel on my laser 28. But I decided to keep the original keel on the boat and just get a new boat.

| Lock Crowther 1962 Kraken 25 trimaran build and rebuild log You can see my trimaran rebuild here. The modifications I'm making are in the spirit of the boat and will fit in with it's intended purpose. They are an update on the rig the sails which are going to be updated with a square head mainsail (I'm also building a carbon fibre wingmast in my workshop) and a reduction in the size of the genoa a subtle flush fitting set of hatches around the daggerboard in the centre of the main hull and removal of the large hatches fore and aft. The boat is going to be fitted with twin tillers which will be fitted with a shockcord on each side to save carrying over an extension during tacks and gybes. Additionally I've made some updates to the materials used and the build method to save on weight and utilise the advantages of modern epoxy/cold mold construction, instead of a heavy hardwood keelson the boat will have a poured thickened epoxy keelson with a double bias reinforcement. The updates are in the spirit of the original boat and wont compromise its aesthetics or sailing dynamics. If I was to modify a gougeon 32 I would look first to retain its good points which are its easy trailability and performance additional usable space could be added to the boat with a fitted bimini which could be removed while sailing to not effect the boats dynamics but put up while at anchor to give more shade and enclosed area out of the sun. |

| Perhaps it's important to note that all of your upgrades/changes are, as you say, in the spirit of the original. Now, some folks would take great exception to your rig choice, right off the top. But it is, as you say, in the spirit. Well, in the spirit according to your tastes and needs and that is really the point here. It's your boat and your taste that is most important. The topic of taste is as varied as there are human beings. It's pretty much what I was aiming at when I suggested the hotrod comparison based on a classic original. I happen to like your boat and your indicated changes, but they might be as proper to some folks as an ugly rash on their girlfriend's chest. |

| "The only thing I can't stand is intolerance!" The boat owner can do whatever he wants to the boat... but now that highly modified G32 is for sale... the modifications tried to make a more stable platform... but the whole point of the design was to make a fast trailer sailor... it's not a trailer sailor anymore, it is a lot slower than the original, and worth a whole lot less.... yes the owner can do what he wants to his boat, but as soon as he tries to sell it... it is fair game to public opinion.
