And the old boats still sail as a reminder that you can't send good men down( at least not without having something come back. I'm going to send this to my lead lugger acquaintances (do we have to call them friends?) to see if they find it as funny as I do.

I built a catamaran next to a 50' Scow project, as we put her thru sea trials, I begged the elderly Scow builder to come out for a spin to no avail. As the boat left for the last time, The Olde Master Builder turned and solemnly proclaimed, ''I was afraid I might like it''!!

I was looking for that picture of the preying monohuller that preyed 'Oh God, I went sailing on a multihull... and liked it.'

Maybe someone else has it.

That was a funny piece, but I didn't understand why he thought monohulls were easier to ventilate. Am I missing something.

Lead is one of the heaviest of the elements therefore promoting movement and control over the more ethereal elements such as air.

illusion of control in one element often hides liability in another, or sinkers for suckers? Before I get too much hate mail remember we sail in a environment we have no control of and should work in harmony with. On another thread someone pointed out sailing submarines could ride out storms under the waves but if things go wrong it is sure better to have a boat that floats! Some multihulls could use flotation too.

John Wayne was our mightiest lead disseminator, and he preferred serving it ''hot'', which further improves lead's ability to move air!

Ballast for cowpokes is still cold, often damp and usually under water, often at great depths. Now that hillybilly Buddy won races with catamarans....and laughs ! Who needs hot air.....
