so the rig has to be self steering > at least 2 sails
as well for a fast change of directions

of cource .... the hvfin will have to be curved enough to being stable ....
and the float can be at the hinge >

so why waste all the structure to put it more out wards ?
and the wind drag ......

This thread is a perfect example of how a person can be their own worst enemy. Regardless of the unusual personality involved, the idea itself seems to have much merit and be worth further investigation.

I'm not sure what Mr. Roth's objectives are here. Is he trying to promote the concept, or is he trying to promote his own genius and kill external interest in the concept? Proas are the fringiest of the already fringe activity called performance sailing. Regardless of what he may or may not be trying to accomplish, Mr. Roth has succeeded clearly at only one thing - destroying any credibility he brings to the concept and shutting down interest in discussing things further with him. I'd certainly be interested in further discussion - without Mr. Roth's participation.

And that is a horrible shame. Mr. Roth's communication and interpersonal skills are so dysfunctional that he would be far better off to limit his posts to drawings and pictures. If there truly is a "proagenesis team", anyone else (up to and including the cat) on the team should take over external communications and let Mr. Roth concentrate on delivering the functional proof of concept.
