Yes, but right now most of the big records in the Pacific are held by Kersuason with a maxi tri, so the mention fits.

You're right of course. But what a toy!

I showed that loop to my son, and for the first time I think he really grasped the idea of speed under sail.

Isn't Groupama III a tri?

Yes it is a Tri---105 feet of very radical consruct. As the opening entry to this thread stated it is VERY VERY light. Scary light. As I said, it will probably break the 24 hour record but the around the world record could be a stretch for it. Such a big leap in engineering advancement seems unlikely to me these days...but maybe they really do have a better idea??? In any case we will soon see.

Really light. On the Cammas site there's video of Groupama III being wheeled out of its hangar on what looks a lot like an overgrown shopping cart. Amazing.

I wish I could speak French. There appears to be a lot of interesting stuff on the video about the boat's construction.
