Gitana's "Secret Weapon"

Gitana sported a completely experimental RETRACTABLE t-foil on the stern of her starboard ama on her recently completed Transat Jacques Vabre second place finish. The t-foil was adjustable as well and was only deployed(theoretically) at about 18 knots of boat speed. The idea was to raise the entire ama out of the water in combination with the curved ama'main foil' as well as to enhance pitch stability.
