20 knots and 4 foot seas sounds like heaven for cats in general...

Gary Baigent and Boat guy +1. Me agree, but understand.

I know how far people will go to either grab a fast buck or be dim...

So govt is being careful, as a commander in the CG, I might be so inclined...

And if someone, also like me and G, want to go on, fine...we take our chances and blame no one else later...if mishaps happen.

But that is not what happens...in a gratuitous PC inclined world, is it?

So, government, if they did nothing, might end up in court...this way...

Well, Most of you get the point.

I was planning on taking my outrigger down, until some guys smarter than me advised me my plan had a fault.

I took their wondrous advice and though wish the boat was wet, I am smiling, we would have been flotsam had we taken the rig down as planned...

    See me smile...

Next year...and there is the Texas rave isn't there...?

Careful and balanced reply, BobBill, and looking at the amada lineup, I questioned the abilities and the design of some of the sailors and their (overloaded) small craft - but ... there was/is also a large number of hard core, very experienced competitor/designers in the EC ... who didn't get into any trouble, in fact probably wondered what all the fuss and over reaction was about, yet they were ordered to withdraw.
As usual there is a balance required and although I'm an anarchist, maybe some of those tiny overloaded craft need a qualifying course before being allowed to enter the EC.

For the Tornado at least, unless it's loaded down with a lot of supplies, it would be the recipe for a new course record. For the overloaded canoe, not so much. I thought this was supposed to be a somewhat extreme hardcore event... Of course, I'm not one to talk. I've never taken part in anything remotely like this.

Gary, I agree...some of those sailors must harbor a death wish, seems to me and a mental (pre) screen might be good also.

Manfred, the vid is appreciated...very good...sad the malfunction.

Woa! I believe I've sailed with that boat! I was in a rental (Compac 16) on Lake Fairview, Florida, Dec. 26, last year. The weather was extremely light but they moved out well when they actually focused on sailing.
