Awesome in its simplicity. The crossarm that carries the mast also carries the stays and the leeboards. I wonder what that alum looking tube is that looks lashed to the fore and aft beam on centerline? I would have liked to see the steering. Looks well thought out and they seem to sailing along very nicely. Cool Steve

Here is the page of the builder. The shortest vid makes a quick tour of the canoe. http://www.youtube.com/user/c3hercules I am not sure whether I understand what I am seeing. I think the alu tube seems to be the handle of the tiller, while it seems that the backstay is footed in the shaft of the rudder/back foil. This boat is built to make impossible to break any ONE thing. Ingenious.

Thanks Magwas, Yes its the tiller extension, and its lashed which indicates a well balanced boat to sail w helm unattended for that long.

Hey all. I call it Nufoiler Canoemaran. The large alum is a Sunfish mast I brought just for GP. The tiller/extension is not lashed but the pivot bolt contacts the spine well enough that you can set it and trim it a few degrees. I just threw it together two years ago. Its got two rudders now, but that designs' gonna get scrapped soon anyway, wider is better check out the fast vid: www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0xTZH3nYAw

Are the canoes identical, same make and model? I have a 16' canoe, chepie made of Rolex and I was thinking about getting anouther just like it and doing the same. Use some fiberglass tent poles and add some shade. Also thought of a hard deck to cross from one hull to the other. Great job! Like it!

They are both "Coleman 15's" but the green is a little newer. It has two handles, one either end, and just a fuzz more arc to its length/ Stem and stern points sit about 1.5 in higher above centerline than Red. They weigh the same +/-5 lbs at 70 each. Bimini of sorts would be there's not that much room under my beam! Forget about the hard deck man, paddling is a must through that void there, unless you like dancing!

Good thing you put the red one on port and the green one on starboard. Otherwise, you'd never hear the end of it!

The first incarnation actually had two reds then we found the green one at a yard sale for $50. Here is my new beam of poplar to support the old boards at a 45 deg, toed in 4. The aft beam is of hickory. I got it up on plane last year but broke the leeward mount. She foil/planes now but starts to drag the POS rudder bosses. Its a work in progress! http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/att...n-imgp3650.jpg (The first one)
