Converting Keels to Dagger Boards

As you all know, my Kurt Hughes 45 build failed. Life (and boating) must go on.

I have been looking at catamarans in the $200K-$300K range that I can use for my chartering and they are all poorly designed.

I have not found any that have 4 staterooms and 4 heads that also can sail.

My question surrounds an idea:

Could I take something like a Fountaine Pajot and remove the keels, cutting a hole and putting in proper dagger boards (with airfoil shape) for windward performance?

Has anyone done this?

As a side question, what is the best performing catamaran with 4 staterooms and 4 heads in the $200K -$300K range?

Is life so difficult, that you can't live without a head within a 15' circle, of each step you might take?

Sure you could do it but most of them have incompatible interior arrangements....so you get into a big mess changing everything......

This one...the Outremer 50 Light will be the best sailing boat....

Yes, my bladder leaks like a sieve and I eat Taco Bell and drink Keystone Light beer. ha ha ha

Kidding, of course.

If you go back and read the opening post, I think I mentioned it was for charter?

Good point about the interior difficulties. Given the heads are probably right in the spot you need the board to be, this could present a lot of problems in the modification.

I'll take a look through the links and at the Outremer. Thanks.
