    Hi,

I would like to ask, if you know the average weight of a yacht or CAT furniture [kg/sq. meter or pound/sq. ft], used by designers, let's say for Cats between 14 and 25 m. I mean the average weight for Bedrooms, Galley and Saloon furniture.

    Thanks for any reply

I don't think there is. Each design has its own specifications.

Current production catamarans in this range will fall into three groups in terms of furniture: Minimalist, economical, and opulent.

The minimalist will attempt to integrate every furniture component into the structure of the vessel. Flat surfaces will wherever possible be a load bearing element in the hull or beams. Curved sections will be built as light as possible since there is no need to resist oil-canning.

Economical furniture construction will tend to large flat surfaces because they can be built easier and cheaper with plywood or other flat stock. This will drive the weight up.

Opulent means that every surface and feature appeals to the client emotionally; wood veneers imply warmth, padded or upholstered surfaces must integrate with the interior designer's plan, and may dictate hidden structure that might otherwise not be there. Lined storage compartments, shelves and drawers will abound.

Further, few manufacturers actually know how much their furniture weighs. The time required to track such a consideration will only be taken by the ultra performance crowd, such as Outremer and Fast Cat. For everyone else, the launch crane tells them everything they want to know.

So, to answer your question: There is no answer. You may get Outremer, Fast Cat, or a one off to tell you, but an average? Sorry, Charlie!
