| catamaran bridgedeck size Why are catamaran bridge decks so small, there doesn’t seem to be any head room, even in a lot of large cats (35ft and over) why is that, we all like headroom but I love it are there any other reason beside windage or is windage a huge concern |

| windage, weight, line of sight from the helm, cg, mast height, boom height. probably other reasons too. Visisted a few of the cats at the Cannes expo. The back end of the bridge deck cabin makes a big wall blocking the view and on deck openess feeling. Great for sitting at the dock and snobbing the people that walk by but not too wonderful for sailing (my opinion) On a catamaran weight is a negative to performance. smaller surface equals less weight. |
