carbon mast, keflar rigging?

Kevlar is old technology. Do a search on PBO for what the deep pocket guys are using these days.

PBO rigging is about 30% more expensive than SS rod rigging and has a short lifespan (3-5 years). The cost of PBO is then almost 3 times the cost of SS rod, since rod lasts 10 years with no problem.

most of the go fast multi's have rotating mast's, so rod rigging no good,I and a lot of guys use wire [1 x19] but they fatigue pretty quick. Had my strands start to break on forestay after 3 years . reckon the rope would be the go, light,less windage supposedly,but hates the sun.

free standing mast and ropes i see, but only 3 years on PBO?
did read kevlar was more sensitive and PBO needed a check after 5 years...
now how do you you furl on a rope? i was howlered those furl rods nowadays fold down zigzag?

The boats that use PBO rigging probably do not use roller furling on the headsails. For equal strength the PBO has greater diameter and would not fit inside a normal furler. PBO would work for a sail that furls around it's own stay.
