Just comparing hulls with the 24, the 28 has an extra chine, is the build method still the same ie no strong back required ?

    No.
The B28 is built on a strongback as standard.
Cleverly done though as the insides are all assembled on the strongback too.
When you turn the main hull right way up everything just drops into place.
Second only to the B24, it was the easiest boat I ever built. :D

Edit:- Thats not strictly true. The easiest boat I ever built was my very first boat, a 7ft Pram Dinghy.

Why not recreate the plans from what is available , Or is that considered uncool?
the buc 24 could be uses as a guide for construction and you did post some basic drawings
of the Buc 28 , Nice boat by the way .

If I recreated a tri like a Buc 28----it would cease to be a Buc 28.
Only a Buc 28 created by Lock Crowther can be a Buc28.
I could call it a Mac 28----but then some people would confuse it with the Mac 26-----(God forbid).

P.S. The Mac 36 Catamaran was a great sailboat.

    28 lines

You are welcome:cool: If I am ever able, I am going to take as many measurements as I can off a 28. There seems to be one somewhere on the Texas coast, and definitely a recently! completed one on the northwest coast. Both are a long way from me, but I do travel. It would be worth a trip if I ever get in touch with an owner- I keep trying. The lines are not nearly as good as the plans, but at least it would not pass in to history. With the main hull dimensions, it could be reverse engineered. B

Did you try to contact Sea Stallion? I've quoted some of his posts in post#13. You could also try zigzag who is quoted in the same post.

    Good Luck!

    contact

I have sent e-mails to the club where "Whimsey" is/was a member with no results so far. (He just finished building after about 20 years so he must have a plans set.) With the amenities in the pics, he may be off cruising- I would:cool: Zigzag is a boat builder I think, and doesn't seem to have the plans, and several of us have tried contacting Sea Stallion with no reply so far. I have joined a Texas forum where there is another Buc 24 owner, and maybe something will come of that contact. B

Both above linked 'Whimsy' pages say ‘‘Last Revised 01/10/07’’. The Gallery says ‘‘Last Revised 01/08/11’’. Home page says ‘‘Last Revised - February 18, 2011’’. So there is activity.

The two in post#28 linked pages give the name of the boat, the name of the owner / builder / sikpper, its home port, and place and date* of the first launch (* year must be 2007 or before).

With this info you might find the owner trough their mailing list.

    Good Luck!
