Attaching 2 canoes for fishing platform

Hi. I live in Philippines, land of the ubiquitous bangka or outrigger canoe. They're used by fishermen and seen everywhere. They make them by putting 1/4" marine plywood over a wood frame. Epoxy/fiberglass covering are optional. Experienced builders make them by hand for very little cost. Diesel inboards are common.

The problem I see is that they get bigger and bigger without commensurate gains in storage space for the catch. Fish are stored in styrofoam boxes. Seems like a catamaran with a wide platform would be much better and no outriggers required.

Can anyone tell me if I'm on to something? Or maybe there's a good reason no one here is doing this already?

How big would my two canoes have to be to handle 750kg of fish on the platform plus two skinny Filipinos on each canoe? Propulsion... a couple of outboards?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm completely new to boat design. Just trying to help my filipina wife's family.

Edit:

Maybe something like this.... only a little bigger and powered, no sails.

BTW, the platform would have to be 7' by 8' to store the catch in boxes that are not stacked, keeping the center of gravity lower.
