Anyone know who designed this cat? I've been searching, but am unable to find who designed this cat, described as a FB35. Anyone know?

No idea, never spoke to him. Someone asked if I knew who designed it & I thought I'd ask here. I originally dug out the ad for the guy, because he was looking for a boat in the Philippines or nearby & had started by asking about sailing a Mac26, M model, from HK, later Taiwan. Having lived in southern Taiwan, I was a bit concerned with that idea. I figured this would be a better choice for his planned use, but probably just opened a new can of worms. ![]()

Brian, The guy who is looking at this boat started a thread on CF, asking about http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...-ye-63916.html I'm sure that I've seen the design before, but I'm a "closet cat lover" and am not familiar enough with all of the designers. I erred in mentioning the "model" as the OP of that thread is probably worried that someone will scoop it out from under him. Oh well. Not easy to find an affordable boat when one is sitting in The Philippines, went through that myself, decades ago. I did suggest he contact the seller & ask him. I wouldn't mind taking a shot at building a cat at some point myself when I'm there, once I've dealt with the other 100+ projects I have on my plate. Mike

I'm not sure but something about the sheerline makes me think of Erik Lerouge catamaran designs. Looked on his site but cant see anything like that design.

This cat was for sale in Malaysia and the owner was Glenn Laurents who designed it and built it. http://www.adpost.com/sg/boats/335/

Love the centre pod cabin, looks like you could unbolt it and use it as a tender ! RR

Is the boat is in the NW ? It looks a bit like a stretched and heavily modified cat that started as a Wharram Tane,I think. That boat was featured in a article in the old Multihulls mag back before the colour printing. The owner at that time used a sweep for auxiliary power. If it is the same boat the Wood's style deckpod is more recent.

Its kind of cool looking in an old VW Beetle way, a bit like like an Orams mango 38, i like it. Steve.

I just registered to let you know that I designed the FBC36 (FB35 was a typo in the ad) Yes, you see some Eric LeRouge and probably some Gerard Danson influences, the sheer line for example. I always liked Edel cuddy idea and did not like bridge decks cabins so after a few months of sketching I drew the cat and ran calculations, looked OK but very different from what I was used to seeing. Built a sclae model and then my wifwe and I built the boat in Loyang, Singapore. THERE ARE NO WHARRAM INFLUENCES PERIOD!

I'll try to find the article so the dissimilarities are apparent.
