Predator Trimaran Information

Information about the Predator trimaran can be found in the book, "More Small Trimarans." This includes the contact info for Paul Dawson, who designed this sailboat.

I don't know what happened to the original poster here.

I think the large version looks hot. But its very expensive. All the demo pics seem to have a $25K Vaka mounted to a $1500 hobie or similar oldschool cat. The old donor cat spoils the look and performance compared to if you used say a Nacra 5.8 which would make for a much better looking and performing boat. I cant see why anyone would spend $25K on the vaka then save 2K on the donor cat. If these kits were cheaper I would own one.

Predator Tri

I totally understand where you're coming from when you mention price. But when you compare the cost of of the Predator with other production boats then all of a sudden it doesn't look that expensive. It's all relative I suppose.

That is true regarding the cost of a production tri. But they would be much better. Considering the Predator still relys on donor cat parts I think something like Chris's Zona 65 would be a better option. I would sooner build that then spend $25K on a predator. Or just buy the 2008 scarab 22 that is for sale locally for $25k, which would be better than either.

Edit the P21 is $28000 for hull and folding system only.
