40 minutes? Oooops, this was yesterday. My back has me in fits. Slept 20 hours out of about 26. I woke up still thinking today was yesterday.

    Still I root for Oracle.

It only happens evry couple of minutes for about 10 seconds here. It's
quite bearable, but the actual "race" is unbearably boring.

Maybe it's time to give all crews similar boats and make it a contest of
    seamanship and sailing prowess.

For anyone watching the races below in Brevard County Florida, the NBC Sports Network is on Channel 102. Maybe the same in other places.
    ------

NBC Ramps Up America’s Cup Coverage In US

San Francisco, CA (August 5, 2013) - The America's Cup is returning to network television in the United States for the first time in over 20 years with NBC. Coverage begins with Semifinal races 3 and 4 of the Louis Vuitton Cup, the America's Cup Challenger Series, on August 9 and 10 which will be shown tape delayed on the NBC Sports Network.

In the United States, all races covered by NBC / NBC Sports Network will be replayed on YouTube immediately following the television broadcast (internationally the America’s Cup YouTube channel will continue to have live coverage subject to territorial rights restrictions).

Veteran announcer Todd Harris will serve as the play-by-play commentator for the NBC Sports Network telecasts. Harris will be joined by former America’s Cup helmsman and Volvo Ocean Race skipper Ken Read, as well as America's Cup winner and author Gary Jobson.

    Louis Vuitton Cup Semifinals
    August 9 - Race 3 - NBC Sports Network - 7:00pm ET (tape delayed)
    August 10 - Race 4 - NBC Sports Network - 6:00pm ET (tape delayed)

    Louis Vuitton Cup Finals
    August 17 - Races 1+2 - NBC Sports Network - 6:00pm ET (tape delayed)
    August 18 - Races 3+4 - NBC Sports Network - 6:00pm ET (tape delayed)
    August 21 - Races 5+6 - YouTube.com/americascup - 4:00pm ET (live)
    August 24 - Races 7+8 - NBC Sports Network - 7:00pm ET (tape delayed)
    August 25 - Races 9+10 - NBC Sports Network - 7:00pm ET (tape delayed / if necessary)
    August 28 - Races 11+12 - NBC Sports Network - 5:00pm ET (tape delayed / if necessary)
    August 30 - Races 13 - NBC Sports Network - 5:00pm ET (tape delayed / if necessary)

During the 2013 America's Cup Finals, coverage switches to the main NBC network for the first two days before reverting to the NBC Sports Network, with live broadcasting of all races.

Editor’s Note: To clarify, just races 3 and 4 of the Semifinals are on NBC Sports Network. All races will be shown on YouTube, but races that are also on NBC/NBC Sports Network will not be shown live on YouTube. These will be shown as replays on YouTube following the television broadcast.

For the America's Cup Finals, the same applies, with the difference being the races are live on TV, streamed live on NBC website, and available on YouTube as replays following the broadcast.

    Indeed.

Unlike the Giraglia Rolex Cup, which had 184 entrants, inc. amateurs (if they want a got at the big boys). I watched some highlights last week. 30 yachts finished within 5mins of each other. They may not be "flying", but the GRC smells like a race, quacks like a race and by golly, even looks like a race!

    Today's race was much better.
A complete farce is so much funnier than a dull blow out!

Sure hope things improve. So far the only competitive racing has been done at night by the repair crews.

It is kind of embarrassing when the Louis Vuitton commentators say that "it would be a great day to be out on Etchell's racing" and the AC72 race is cancelled due to excessive wind at 18 knots. Ouch. This after they were talking about Open Bic kids racing in the same conditions.

The series badly needs redemption by getting a few two boats races off where both boats finish. Even the crews look disheartened and embarrassed, watching their boats being patched up on the water, and team managers praying for race cancellation due to wind.

These guys are too good to be sitting around. It is like a Superbowl being played with 50 gram translucent porcelain footballs and flags instead of tackles with personal injury lawyers for referees.

America's Cup.com says the races 8/19/13 will be on ESPN 3 at 3PM eastern. No word whether they'll also be on youtube.
For Bright House customers , you first have to register for a "My Services" account, then go here: http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index

    ======================
Next racing may be on Friday at 3pm Eastern on ESPN 3. Very difficult to get accurate info.

You are a fantastic timekeeper, Doug! I reckon there's a job for you with LR.

Luna Rossa have blamed their bad starts on the watches they wear.
All that tech and they can't set a watch properly.
It's like an $8 million clown car, not an AC yacht!

Let's hope it's not too windy, otherwise only children and amateurs will be allowed to sail on the bay.

Knock it off ,Leo-if you don't like it don't watch it. You know as well as I do that your bitching about it accomplishes nothing. Just watch and enjoy it....
This is the best AC coverage in history on the greatest AC boats ever designed!

Nah, it was just a little joke and you over-reacted yet again. (Click on my name, add to ignore list, then save list).
And the "races" have been very poor and/or marred by equipment failures.
