There are many Gary but I'll start with the practical. SAFETY IS DESIRABLE. Go have fun but wear a crash helmet and flotation.....

 

That could be "Sure is Desirable".

 

Streaking Incendiary Device? Perhaps? One way or another it's hot.

 

How about buzzing the military again for marketing the Strategic Infiltration Device? Then if things don't go well you can explain the name as Strap In Dummy. No matter what you call Sid it looks fun.

I am concerned how she will handle moored in high winds. Maybe you need some water ballast to keep her from flying away? (im not joking!)

I would love to come for a rum race with you. See how she goes against the racing Cats around here.

 

Hi Sam, you are correct, high winds will kill Sid - that is why I've shifted to a more sheltered area. Give me some time to get the boat sorted and I'll come down for a rumrace.

Hey neighbor. I must be just up the road from you.

Years ago I built and sailed a number of boats. I had a boatbuilding - repair business in Key Largo, FL for a few years. I've been out of it for some time but the bug has bitten me again.

While I did some cutting edge stiff years ago I'm trying to catch up with what has gone on in my absence.

If you need a hand turning hulls over, holding the 'dumb end' of a tape measure or whatever send me a PM. Either way it's great reading and good luck.

My boat is out of the water- somebody pulled the plug on our lake and all the water has drained south.

A few sailing shots; Jim Young took them. Sid took flight close reaching in some gusts but there are a number of things not sorted out properly - like needs a decent main, not the ugly thing it has at the moment, also need more mainsheet purchases. Even so, loads peak rapidly, like instantaneously, like bang, in the gusts and I'm too chicken to let the poor, light platform take the pressures, ease main sheet a little, otherwise feel certain the boat will explode into many small fragments. The acceleration is kind of fun though. That too is instantaneous.

It looks good, slight hijack though, any word on the Jim Young book?

 

Jim wants to add yet more historical and philosophical stuff; book is already large with many photographs and plans ... so you'll have to wait.
